So this past weekend was without a doubt, the best weekend ever. Sheer insanity.

-Meeting up at the airport

-Arriving at the hotel

-Hanging out in Christy and Natacia’s rooms

-The odd portraits of legs and cleavage that were in all of our rooms

-Running around Universal Studios

-Getting our asses kicked by Nils in bowling

-Adam showing up to bowling

-Hanging out at AstroBurger

-MEETING AND RECORDING WITH AFI

-Dinner at RFD

-Hanging out at the tattoo parlor until closing

-Natacia and Christy getting ‘Begin Transmission’ tattoos

Crazy. Just crazy. Not only did I get to meet the band who has completely changed the way I look at the world, and not only did I get to do background vocals for their upcoming album, and not only am I now good friends with them, but I also got to meet some of the coolest fucking people in the world. After having spent just a couple of days with Natacia, Mark, Courtney, Brock and Christy, you five are practically family to me and I already miss the hell out of each one of you. I also have to send shoutouts to Alexis, Kylie, Kylie’s awesome dad, Whitney, Todd, Desiree, Davey (not Havok), Smith, and Matt, who all played huge roles in making this weekend so memorable, and who I all miss just as much. You are all truly awesome people. I will never forget any part of these past couple of days, and I can’t wait to hang out with each and every one of you again. In the meantime, I’m making damn sure I keep in contact with you folks online and through texting.

Thank you so much to Smith and Matt, everyone at Interscope Records, and most importantly, the guys in AFI for making this whole thing possible. A band having such dedication to their fans is unheard of.

I’ll be back in Cali in two months for my brother’s graduation, so hopefully Mark, Brock, and I can wreak some more havoc.

Lastly, yes, Begin Transmission is indeed very far from over. And I think you’ll all be excited about where it’s headed.

Day With Smith

I know that my previous post left a lot to be desired, so allow me to elaborate.

My day with Smith was an adventure indeed, despite the fact that we were forced to work our way around the SuperBowl. I’m not going to give it all away just yet, but some of the day’s transpirings may have included bombing hills, going to the beach, and chasing mongooses (mongeese?) Unfortunately, I couldn’t find my stupid camera charger, so I won’t be able to provide pics like Mark and Natacia did. But from what I’ve been told, ya’ll won’t have to wait too long for the footage. ;)

Oh, and congratulations to all of you who received an Honorable Mention! :)

The Day Is Here!

Less than two hours to go! Let’s hope that my day can rival the mayhem that was Mark and Natacia’s days.

Beyond Excited!

I apologize for my major posting infrequency, had a killer headache this week. Nonetheless, I just wanted to send my felicidades out to Courtney, Brock, and Christy. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m even more stoked now that we have the whole group. It’s insane really, to think that I’m part of a group that includes longtime fans such as yourselves, as I’m sure a couple of you were probably spinning SYMAOYE and BSITS when I was still learning the ABC’s. I can’t put into words how honored I feel to be in this situation with such a great group of people. Super stoked to meet all five of you in LA, and once again, congratulations!

PS: Natacia, you’ll have to help me out with the whole space thing. I have zero Photoshop skills whatsoever, haha.

Congrats Mark!

I just learned that Mark is the third winner, and I can’t say that I’m surprised, as his video was definitely a favorite among many. Congrats man, I’ve never had the priviledge of talking to you, but I’m a huge fan of your blogs on Buzznet as well as your posts on the OMB (not to mention the stagediving story on IHAV).  Looking forward to meeting you man, and once again, congrats!

OMGOMGOMGOMG

Wow, I can honestly say this is the coolest thing to ever happen to me. I’m pacing back and forth right now, and my heart is about to explode out of my chest.

Now for the explanation as to why I sounded like a complete idiot on the phone. I had been staying at a friends house the night before and slept approximately thirty minutes. I came home at about 8:00 AM and passed out right away. Now I guess sometime between then and 10:30, Kristin had called our house and my Mom picked up. She informed her that I had won, but the plan was for my Mom to keep it a secret, so that they could call back a little while later to get my surprised reaction to me actually being informed by Davey that I was a winner. My Mom pounds on my door, looking strangely excited, telling me that I missed a phone call from my Grandpa and that he would be calling back in a few to ask for my e-mail address so he could “send me something” (hahaha, great cover-up Mom). So I spend about half an hour crashed on the couch, as we both wait for “Grandpa” to call. In a normal state of mind I would have started to realize that something really weird was going on, but I was tired beyond all reasoning. Finally, the phone rings and my Mom springs up and grabs it, handing it to me immediately. I answer it and the voice that greets me sounds nothing like my Grandpa. I, assuming it’s one of my cousins or something, just go along with the conversation, making small talk, waiting for him to give the phone to “Grandpa.” The voice DOES sound vaguely familiar, but I simply want to get this over with so that I can return to slumber. I guess he had said his name was Davey at one point, but it totally flew over my head. Then suddenly, he starts talking about my AFI video. I, still thinking it was my “cousin” say some idiotic thing like “You saw that? How did you find that?” I forget exactly what he said that finally made me realize he was Davey Havok (the recording’s up so I guess you can find out). At that exact moment, my heart rate had seemingly quintupled and all I could think was “HOLY. SHIT.” I guess what came out of my mouth was “Ohhhhhh! This is Davey!” He laughed. It was then that I was informed that I HAD WON!!!

The fact that I was on the phone with Davey Havok is mindblowing in itself. But the fact that I’m actually going to California to meet them all, hang out with them, and that I’m actually going to be a part of an AFI full-length? I swear this must be a dream.

Thanks a ton to the guys for setting up this contest and giving us all the chance to be a part of the new album.

Wow. These next few weeks are going to be an absolute dream come true.
